Dining Out - Roscoe's Barbeque Root Beer and Ribs

By Andrea Faiad

Offers award-winning ribs and sauces, including being crowned thrice (and second at least four times) at the Minneapolis Ribfest.

After a small electrical fire, Rosco's owner Steve Ross, replaced all the wiring, gas and plumbing in his root beer stand.

But none of the cooking equipment used to make his signature barbecue ribs or smoked beef brisket, chicken, ham and pork shoulder changed.

After 24 years, he says a solid customer base keeps the family-run, locally owned restaurant going.

"It's a tough road to hoe, but we have a real loyal customer base that supports us every year," Ross says.
